About Petro Imen Sharif

Petro Imen Sharif Company was founded in 2010 by a group of distinguished engineers and specialists who graduated from the country’s top universities. With a firm belief in the motto “To desire is to create” and with the aim of leading in scientific and engineering fields related to the environment, the founders began their activities.

At the beginning, the company focused on holding specialized training courses and implementing technical–engineering projects, delivering over 300,000 man-hours of specialized training and carrying out more than 150 technical projects. Collaboration and membership in the incubator centers of the University of Tehran and the Petroleum University of Technology were among the key achievements of this period.

Since 2016, the company has launched comprehensive and specialized studies in the field of managing waste used cooking oil. After a year of research and reviewing international case studies, Petro Imen Sharif succeeded in localizing the process of collecting and processing this type of waste in Iran. In 2019, with the establishment of the country’s first industrial units for collecting used cooking oil, the company entered its operational phase.

Among the company’s major achievements is the construction of two factories in the Eshtehard Industrial Zone for producing industrial oil intended for renewable energy and biodiesel. Petro Imen Sharif has also acquired and revitalized two older factories producing fatty acids, acid oil, and glycerin in the Charmshahr Varamin Industrial Area. This initiative not only boosted industrial activity but also created job opportunities and advanced technical knowledge in the field.

One of these factories originally belonged to Glycerin Bartar Asia, which began operations in 1997 as the first producer of acid oil, fatty acids, and glycerin in the country. The other is Zarrin Tolid Company, active since the 1960s in the production of detergents and soap. Since 2021, with the efforts of Petro Imen Sharif’s knowledge-based team, both factories have been reactivated and returned to production.

In addition, the company is developing and launching new factories in the Shokouhieh Industrial Zone, Qeshm Island, and Kish Island, which will operate in the production of fatty acids, glycerin, and industrial oils.

By establishing the largest network for purchasing and collecting used cooking oil in the country, designing specialized waste-collection software, and launching more than 80 active workshops across Iran, Petro Imen Sharif has achieved full nationwide coverage. These efforts have so far created direct employment for more than 350 people.

In 2023, Petro Imen Sharif obtained the “Technological Knowledge-Based Company” certification from the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology — the highest scientific ranking available to companies in the country. Additionally, the company received the Grade 1 AEO Certificate from the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran and was named Tehran Province’s Top Exporter in 2024.

In 2025, Petro Imen Sharif was recognized as the National Top Exporter and received the Golden Trophy, reflecting the company’s continued effort, innovation, and leading position in the country’s industry and export sector.

Ultimately, the company’s acquisition of technical expertise and its production of high-quality products comparable with those of leading European companies serve as a strong foundation for achieving the global goals of the Petro Imen Sharif team.
