Petro Imen Sharif Company was established in 2010 (1389 in the Iranian calendar) by a group of engineers and specialists graduated from top universities in Iran who believed in the motto “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”, and with a strong focus on advancing scientific efforts in the field of environmental protection.

During its first decade, the company’s activities were primarily centered around conducting training courses, particularly in the environmental sector. These efforts resulted in the successful implementation of over 150 technical and engineering projects, more than 300,000 hours of specialized training, and membership and cooperation with the incubator centers of the University of Tehran and the Petroleum University of Technology.

Since early 2018 (1397), the company began extensive research into the management of used cooking oil (UCO) waste. After about a year of in-depth studies, and by leveraging the experiences of scientific institutions both inside and outside Iran—as well as analyzing successful international models, especially in developed countries—Petro Imen Sharif succeeded in localizing the process of collecting and processing used cooking oil in Iran.

In 2019 (1398), the company established two industrial units dedicated to collecting UCO, becoming the first industrial entity in the country to operationalize the management of this waste stream.

To date, the company’s achievements include the construction of two factories in the Eshtehard Industrial Zone (Alborz Province), the acquisition of the oldest waste oil management facility with 24 years of experience in Charmshahr Industrial Zone (Tehran Province), and the establishment of representative offices in over 50 cities across Iran to ensure comprehensive national coverage. These efforts have led to the creation of over 250 jobs nationwide.

Given its operational record and significant export achievements, Petro Imen Sharif Production Company has been granted the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Level 1 license, under notification No. 1452536/1400 dated January 13, 2022, by the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This license is available and verifiable on the official website of Iran Customs. Furthermore, following a national call by Iran Customs for documentation review to select customs excellence awardees, Petro Imen Sharif was once again recognized and awarded as a Level 1 Customs Distinguished Company for the year 2023 (1402).

In addition, by employing top university graduates and leveraging several years of laboratory and industrial experience, the company successfully developed the knowledge required to produce industrial-grade oil for biodiesel from used cooking oil waste. This achievement marked the first time in Iran that such a technology was recognized at a Level 1 knowledge-based technology.

Petro Imen Sharif proudly received the Knowledge-Based Certificate from the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy in November 2023 (Aban 1402).
This achievement was the result of entirely indigenous expertise, developed in the laboratories and production facilities of Petro Imen Sharif.

We are proud to announce that, for the first time in the country, we have successfully implemented a capillary collection system for used cooking oil. This includes the transfer of technical know-how for processing UCO (Used Cooking Oil) in a manner approved by international clients, its export, and its conversion into clean fuel.

Thanks to this initiative, we have ensured that this waste product no longer ends up—through the actions of profiteers—in the livestock and poultry industries, the cosmetics and personal care sector, or the sewage system.

This achievement was made possible through the support of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the Department of Environment, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, the Iran Veterinary Organization, and the National Nutrition and Food Technology Research Institute.
