Information and Communication Technology (ICT) refers to the use of software tools to harness the computational power of computers for human activities. This broad concept encompasses various definitions, but all emphasize utilizing computers to perform tasks.

The term “Information and Communication Technology” translates to “فناوری اطلاعات و ارتباطات” in Persian. This technology involves analyzing raw data, which lacks meaningful interpretation, and transforming it into understandable information. It also facilitates the exchange of data and information through electronic systems to end-users. While the digital aspect of ICT is relatively recent, the concept of information technology, in its broader sense, dates back to the creation of the universe.

ICT is based on several processes, including the production, processing, storage, retrieval, and transmission of information. Its components include software, hardware, computer systems, designers, manufacturers, electronic components, and equipment providers. This field holds significant importance in organizational management, especially in decision-making processes. Discussions on ICT in management are typically explored within the domain of Management Information Systems.

The components of ICT encompass both active internet spaces and devices like mobile phones connected through wireless networks. This technology also includes traditional technologies such as landline telephones, radio, and television broadcasting, all of which, along with advanced ICT elements like artificial intelligence and robotics, are widely used today.

In summary, ICT integrates various technological tools and systems to manage and exchange information effectively, playing a crucial role in modern society’s development and functioning.
